WHAT ARE TILAPIA

11.06.2009

WHAT ARE TILAPIA TO OUR EARTH?

You be the judge:

______________________________________________

Is TILAPIA culture a viable choice that can help everyone to live happier, healthier and better lives?,

here are some of the things tilapia can make possible.

______________________________________________

1.   TILAPIA CAN ABOLISH WORLD HUNGER.  TILAPIA CAN FEED ALL THE HUNGRY CHILDREN. To A hungry child Tilapia CAN RESCUE THEN FROM THE PAIN OF HUNGER AND MALNUTRITION.  TILAPIA CAN PROVIDE a cure for his or here need for a balanced healthy meal.

Tilapia can provide a nutritious meal with a well balanced  proteins that has all (100%) of the amino acids and minerals needed to grow our children into  happy well balanced adults.

100 grams of a tilapia fillet provides 100% of the daily needs for protein , vitamins, and minerals which will supply enough protein for normal development of the body and CREATE a sense of well being and happiness that only a nutritious diet can create.

2. TILAPIA ARE THE IDEAL CROP.

To a fish farmer  tilapia provides a fish that can produce more protein per acre than any other crop (animal or vegetable) in the world FOR LESS MONEY.

3TILAPIA ARE INCREDIBLE ENERGY SAVERS; Tilapia can lower the energy cost of growing food. Tilapia can be grown using less energy, (human energy or electrical or mechanical) per pound of edible protein than any other crop (plant or animal) in the world and for less total cost.

.

4TILAPIA IS A SUPER HERO TO a hungry and ecologically bankrupt world  tilapia can provide crops that can be affordably be grown in any climate in the world and can replace the overfished and exhausted oceans and allow the reforestation of most of our planet.

5. TILAPIA CAN CREATE WORLD PEACE: BY PREVENTING  WARS OVER THE AVAILABILITY OF FOOD AND LAND.  provide the affordable nutrition to be able to lower the tensions between people who are competing for the usable land create for the first time a happy and peaceful world.

6. Tilapia is now, this year become the fastest growing segment of the aquaculture industry and the aquaculture industry now as of this year delivering over half of the fish available as food.

7. TILAPIA IS going to become the most extensively grown fish in the world within the next ten years and will produce more revenue than all of the other species of fish put together.

In terms of revenue in U.S. dollars this will be over 10 billion dollars a year.

TILAPIA makes it possible to:

1.  Find World peace. By making possible the economical production of nutritionally complete food which will help feed the hungry.

2.  Feeding the hungry will help people to grow from happy children to happy,  nutritionally well balanced, psychologically balanced content adults that have have a feeling of well being that only a good diet can create.

TILAPIA WILL CREATE A BETTER ENVIRONMENT by reducing the cultivated land now needed to produce beef, pork, and poultry by 95 percent or more which will reduce the demolition of world forest to make room needed to make good pasture land and produce the grain crops now used for animal feed.

TILAPIA will  reduce global warming by increasing the total number of trees and foliage which will allow 95% more co2 removal and conversion into carbohydrates

This replacement of the hundreds and thousands of acres of land needed to grow animals feeding on grasses and grains with a few square feet of water covered land needed to grow the same weight of meat.  These few square feet of water will feed and grow the  same quantity of tilapia on a tiny fraction of the space. and will free up 98% of the land now in use for the purpose of raising beef, and allow us to stop stripping out our forest to create new land suitable for raising beef, pork. and poultry.

Some numbers to contemplate:  The numbers are approximations based on information fro specialist in each area AND ARE BASED ON THE CONVERSION RATES OF EACH ANIMAL AND THE ACREAGE REQUIRED TO CULTIVATE THESE FEEDS

1.  IT TAKES FROM 3-12 ACRES OF LAND TO GROW THE FEED AND PRODUCE THE GRAINS AND OR GROW THE GRASS TO PRODUCE 100 POUNDS OF BEEF PER YEAR.

2.  IT TAKES 2.5 -10 ACRES OF LAND TO PRODUCE THE GRAINS AND OR GROW THE GRASS TO PRODUCE 100 POUNDS OF PORK PER YEAR.

3.  It takes 1.5 -7 acres of land to grow the grains and or the grass to produce 100 pounds of poultry per year.

4.  It takes as little as .01 acres to produce the feed (algae) used to raise 100 pounds of tilapia fillets.  this is because one acre fertilised with 10 pounds of triple super phosphate will grow enough algae to produce 10,000 pounds of whole pennyfish which will yield 5,000 pounds of skinless boneless fillets.

AMOUNT       ANIMAL        NUMBER OF POUNDS                                                        BONELESS FILLET    PER YEAR

LAND 1 ACRE........................43,560 SQUARE FEET IN AN ACRE

------------------------------------------------------------------

1.  It takes 3-12 acres of land to grow 100 pounds of  skinless BEEF .......130,680 SQ. FT.

PORK.......108,900 SQ. FT

POULTRY ..65,340 SQ. FT

pennyfish .......435 SQ. FT

The conclusion that a careful reader will come to is that the cultivation of tilapia, is REALLY a good thing, because of the amount of protein that can be produced by the farmer, which is 10,000 pounds of whole fish per acre where as all of the other choices require at least 150 times more land to produce the same live weight of animals.

An acre of land will grow enough algae to grow 10,000 pounds of whole tilapia per year/

All other tilapia can be produced at the same ratio if algae per pound of live fish.

If the farmer is growing tilapia nilotica or any of its form will get at most 3,200 pounds of skinless boneless fillet, where as a pennyfish grower will produce 5,000 pounds. in the same growing area.

Wait!  it still gets better: the cost per pound of fillet produced each year will only be $1.00 FOR PENNYFISH compared with a cost of $3.00 per pound of skinless boneless fillet .

So

Pennyfish grow to 2,2 pounds each in 34 weeks at 85 degrees f. and yield 50% skinless boneless fillets.  That is 34 weeks from 52 weeks in a year is a time ratio of 34/52 which means the pennyfish farmer is starting a second crop where the aurea grower is still waiting the 43 weeks it takes to get the aurea to the same harvest weight of 2.2 pounds each.

If this ratio is converted to days then the pennyfish crop takes 238 days and the aurea farmer is taking 301 days so the pennyfish tilapia grower has produced his 500 pounds of fillet in 238

days whereas the aurea farmer take 301 days to get 310 pounds of

skinless boneless fillets.

The pennyfish produce 2.1 pounds per day (IN THE SAME SPACE WITH  2/3RD LESS FEED.,) while the t. nilotica is only producing one pound per day of skinless boneless fillets.

So on a year round operation you can grow 60% more for each dollar spent.

Estimated TOTAl cost to grow... nilotica....$1.04 per pound of fillet Estimated TOTAl cost to grow... pennyfish.$0.77 per pound of fillet

The space, labor and feed all cost three times more for nilotica than for pennyfish which is what makes the nilotica so much less profitable.  (REMEMBER IT TAKES THREE NILOTICA THAT WEIGH A KILOGRAM EACH TO PRODUCE THE SAME AMOUNT OF FILLET OVER THE SAME TIME PERIOD TO PRODUCE AS MUCH SKINLESS BONELESS FILLET AS ONE KILOGRAM OF PENNYFISH.)

 WHAT IS A PENNYFISH

Pennyfish™ Super F-1 Hybrid

Orange T. Mossambica X  T Hornorum

Young Pennyfish™

100% of the PennyFish™  grow from 10 gram fingerlings to A KILOGRAM in 4 months providing the grower with 2 to 3 complete crops per year (compared to one crop  crops per year with all other Tilapias).

At 1.25 pounds PennyFish™  yields 46% skinless boneless fillets (30% more than any other tilapia from any other source). This means for the same cost of raising you get 36% skinless boneless fillets to sell or eat.

PennyFish™  are produced from a SuperMale which has an improved body form that when hybridized (bred) with Any t, mossambica female gives pennyfish hybrids (approximatly 80% male and 20% female) all of which  grow to one and a quarter pounds average at 16 weeks.

These same pennyfish will grow to 2.2 pounds each in 34 weeks. reverse tilapia to make them suitable for crop production.

All other pure line or hybrid tilapia producers in the U.S. currently use male hormones in the feed to create fingerlings that are all supposed to be all male male because (they have been told that ,) males grow faster. With PennyFish™  you do not need to worry about that, your

fish will be 80% male and the females will grow at just a littl under the rate of growth, but in many test their was not enough difference in their growth rate to justify an expensive an unreliable process such as sex reversal.

PennyFish™  are very strong and hardy and travel well and hold up well for live hauling to

markets that want live fish.

PennyFish™  are genetically uniform and when tested always give identical results under identical conditions. This means you can always count on their performance.

PennyFish™  provide the new Aquaculturist, or novice with a known performance capability not available from other tilapia sources.

PennyFish™ fingerlings have more return per dollar invested than any other tilapias.

PennyFish™  grow well in fresh or salt water.

PennyFish™  can be stocked in outdoor ponds and grown to market size on inexpensive nutrient sources such as algae without fear of overpopulation because they are all males.

PennyFish™  breeders are color coded so there is never any doubt whether the fingerlings are f-

1 hybrids or not.

THE BLACK DIAMOND PENNYFISH

The Newest pennyfish bred from the extreemly improved male t. horonorum and female normal color (black) t. mossambica

We have known for years that the breeding of any  female t. mossambica would produce a superb pennyfish.

Only recently have I asked Jack Rowland to breed the male t. horonorum with female  (black) t. mossambica and we not only produced a superb pennyfish, they have grown very fast in Aquariums.

The next step with the black diamond pennyfish

is to produce and grow more of them and keep good records of their performance.  The black diamond pennyfish is looking very good though.

This proves that even with almost two decaids of experience building the genome for an improved body form by selecting generation after generation for over 11o generations over the two decaids that The resulting hybrid can be improved.

The improvement may not be in an improved fillet of the new cross that exceeds the current cross but if the number of fry produced are increased while maintaining the rapid growth rate and fillet yield then the new hybrid is very worthwhile.

This can be accomplished by finding another gene line of  t. mossambica or  another compatible female of another gene line of another species to cross my extreemly improved male t. horonorum with can produce something that is very good in terms of   growth speed, improved number of hybrids bred or color or other impressive chacteristic.

Without the extreemly improved male t. horonorum the yield could only be in the 30-31% range since all other known tilapia gene lines fall within this range.

The first of these crosses , The black diamond pennyfish is a cross between my improved body form t. horonorum  crossed with a black t. mossambica female owned by Jack Rowland.

Jack has shared his new gene line with me after performing the first new crosses at his facility in New York, and supplying me with a video of the hybrids in a tank.  I dubbed the hybrid as the Black Diamond penyfish.

I am currently building my stocks of the Rowland t. mossambica stocks, or the Black diamond breeder stocks.

The statistics ON the black diamond pennyfish are really an improvement over those of our orange pennyfish, each black diamond female in a breeder colony will produce 100 to 150 black pennyfish per week throughout a five year breeding period which is approximatly 26,000 pennyfish  per female.

The orange pennyfish is a wonderful hybrid that grows to an average of a kilogram per fish in 34 weeks under controlled conditions, but each female only produces approximatly 9,100 hybrid pennyfish over the breeding period of 5 years.

While this is 45,500 pennyfish for five orange females, in a colony of five females, which should produce over 100,000 pounds of live pennyfish in its breeding lifetime.

The Black Diamond pennyfish should produce approximatly 280,000 pounds of live pennyfish in over the same period.

The fillet ratio of all of the pennyfish is 46%  to 50% of the live weight as skinless boneless fillets.

****ANNOUNCING THE NEW PENNYFISH **************

*****THE BLACK DIAMOND breeders really breed. anywhere, and are producing hundreds of hybrid PENNYFISH even in 30 gallon aquariums even where their are 10 females/ and they are really growing fast.*****

                                                 The black diamond

This new hybrid cross has a whole lot of potential.  The black diamond pennyfish is a cross between my improved body form t. horonorum and a black t. mossambica female.

The fillet ratio of all of the pennyfish(RED, ORANGE, OR BLACK) is 46%  to 50% of the live weight as skinless boneless fillets.  IN 1963 WHEN THE ARTICLE BY DR. HICKLING WAS PUBLISHED THE SKINLESS BONELESS FILET WAS ONLY 25% OF THE LIVE TILPIAS WEIGHT AND IS NOW (2009) 46-%-60% AS A RESULT OF MY SELECTING THE BEST IMPROVEMENT FROM EACH OF 135 CONSECUTIVE GENERATIONS.  THIS ONLY REQUIRES AROUND 50,000 HOURS OF FOCUSED WORK TO GET THE TILAPIA TOGETHER AND SELECT THE BEST FROM EACH GENERATION, SO FEEL TO TRY TO MAKE DUPLICATE WHAT I HAVE DONE IN LESS TPME WITH LESS WORK.

We have developed our t. horonorun genetics so that where we got a skinless boneless fillet from the hybrids being grown of 25% we are now getting 46%.

So, if we are going to sell aything but the males we would have to have a contract for around $50,000 U.S. to share this gene line.  The Horonorum males Can be bought in quantity For $150.00 each. Each male can be breeding with with up to 8 female Black mossambica which can produce between 125 and 150 hybrids a week for up to 260 weeks which is over 50,000 hybrid fingerlings.

This makes the value of each male equal to the value of over 50,000 hybrids at 2.2 pound each or of over 100,000 pounds of whole fish. While the true value of a breeder is not equal to the value of all of its progeney at harvest, it is certainly worth 1 percent of that value, which comes to $1,000 and I We are only asking $150.00 per  breeder to help get an increase the total yield by ******21,600 pounds of live tilapia hybrids.****

At that price the grower is getting back better than $140 for each  ($1.)  invested in the improved body form male t. horonorum.

SINCERELY.

MIKE SIPE

There are one billion pounds of tilapia (nilotica) being grown for Ameicans and if they eat 1.8 pounds per pound of weight gain then that is 1,800,000,000  billion pounds of feed to

produce 1,000,000,000 pounds of live fish which produces 3,100,000 pounds of skittless boneless fillet per year,  Yet with the hybrid pennyfish tilapia the same amount of feed we could produce  4,600,000 of pennyfish because of the improved yield of skinless boneless fillet per tilapia of 46%.  So we could increase production by 31% by just raising hybrid pennyfish instead of T. nilotica, without increasin our feed cost even one penny.
